The open mayoral seat in Peterborough, Ontario, following incumbent Jeff Leal’s decision not to seek re-election, has produced a crowded field of seven certified candidates ahead of the October 26, 2026 vote. Nominations closed on August 21 with the addition of Rob Hailman joining Keith Riel, Neil Morton, Michael Eamon, Rebecca Schillemat, Brian Lumsden, and Jacob Méthot. Trader pricing reflects this fragmentation, with the top four contenders clustered between roughly 17% and 30% implied probability and the remainder trailing sharply. In the absence of published polls or major campaign events since filing closed, no single candidate has consolidated support, sustaining the tight distribution. Further separation could emerge from candidate forums, local issue positioning on housing or services, or early endorsements in the weeks ahead.
