Recent July 2026 CPI data showing a moderation to 2.8% year-over-year, below expectations, alongside the Bank of Korea’s 2.7% headline inflation projection for the full year, anchors trader sentiment for South Korea’s 2026 annual rate. Official forecasts from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (2.6%) and KDI (2.7%) cluster in the 2.4–2.9% range, where the three leading Polymarket outcomes remain closely contested. Upward pressures from elevated oil prices, a weaker won, robust semiconductor exports, and wage growth support the 3.0%+ bucket, while the recent 25-basis-point rate hike to 2.75% and cooling transport and food components favor the lower bands. August and subsequent monthly prints, plus any further monetary policy shifts, represent key swing factors through year-end resolution.
