Democratic incumbent Vicente Gonzalez faces Republican Eric Flores in the November 2026 general election for Texas's 34th congressional district, a South Texas seat with a Cook Partisan Voting Index near even after recent redistricting. Primaries concluded in March 2026 with both nominees advancing cleanly, setting up a contest in a district that supported Trump in 2024 yet retains a Democratic voting base. Forecasters rate the race a toss-up or lean Republican, reflecting shifting Latino voter patterns and national midterm dynamics. Trader consensus assigns Democrats a 74% implied probability, driven by Gonzalez's incumbency edge and fundraising, while the 23% Republican share accounts for potential gains in the Rio Grande Valley. The outcome hinges on turnout among key voting blocs and any late campaign developments before Election Day.
