The UEFA Champions League league phase remains wide open after matchday 1, with the bottom of the 36-team table tightly bunched among lower-seeded sides. Heavy opening losses—Bayern Munich’s 5-0 win over Bodø/Glimt, PSG’s 6-1 defeat of Slovan Bratislava, Barcelona’s 5-1 victory against Feyenoord, Manchester United’s 4-0 result versus Sabah, and Stuttgart’s 3-1 win over Viking—have highlighted goal-difference vulnerabilities and limited squad depth for these clubs. Trader consensus assigns the highest implied probabilities for last place to Viking, Feyenoord, Sabah, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Bodø/Glimt precisely because their remaining seven fixtures pit them against stronger opposition across multiple leagues, while established sides like Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester City sit at the opposite end of the market. The format’s single-table structure and eight-match schedule amplify the impact of early results, keeping the race for 36th competitive among this group.
