Fremantle Dockers and Hawthorn Hawks meet in an AFL qualifying final at Optus Stadium, where Fremantle’s minor-premiership campaign and strong home record create near-even implied odds. The Dockers enter with elite clearance and turnover work but have dropped two of their past three regular-season outings, including a final-round loss that highlighted vulnerability away from Perth. Hawthorn secured a top-four berth and momentum via a 62-point win over West Coast, showing balanced scoring and defensive structure after earlier inconsistency. Their Round 9 clash at the same venue saw Fremantle overcome a late deficit with a decisive burst, underscoring the Hawks’ ability to stay competitive before home-crowd pressure and contested-ball intensity decide late momentum. Key variables include Fremantle’s potential absences (notably defender Brennan Cox) versus Hawthorn’s near-full list, plus the impact of recent rest and travel on both sides’ midfield engines. Any confirmed lineup changes or short-term form shifts in the final 48 hours could quickly tilt trader sentiment in this evenly matched elimination matchup.
