**Ongoing India-Pakistan tensions center on allegations of cross-border terrorism, the unresolved Kashmir dispute, and India's 2025 suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.** The most recent major escalation occurred in May 2025 when India conducted missile strikes on targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir under Operation Sindoor, following a deadly April 2025 attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. A ceasefire has held since, though both sides continue to exchange accusations of militant activity and narrative disputes over the 2025 operation's outcomes. As of late August 2026, Indian authorities reported arrests of operatives linked to Pakistan-backed networks, while Pakistan has highlighted water-sharing concerns and regional diplomacy. Nuclear deterrence, international calls for restraint, and the absence of a new high-profile attack within the past year keep the probability of an imminent Indian strike low in trader assessments. Scheduled diplomatic forums and any fresh militant incidents remain key variables that could shift sentiment.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones, or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Indian military forces that impact Pakistani territory (e.g., if an Indian missile or drone hits a target within Pakistan’s borders, this market will resolve to "Yes").
Missiles or drones that are intercepted before reaching Pakistani territory, as well as surface-to-air missile strikes, will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether debris lands on Pakistani soil or causes damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, FPV or ATGM strikes, ground incursions, naval shelling, cyberattacks, or any operation conducted by Indian ground forces will not qualify as a strike under this market.
The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
