Recent June JOLTS data showing job openings falling 178,000 to 7.359 million has anchored trader expectations for July, reflecting ongoing labor market normalization after May's 7.594 million peak. This cooling aligns with stable but moderating hiring rates near 3.4% and a 1.0 unemployed-per-opening ratio, amid broader signals from nonfarm payrolls and wage trends that influence Federal Reserve policy deliberations. The closely matched probabilities across 7.1–7.5 million ranges highlight uncertainty over whether sector-specific declines in healthcare and leisure will persist or stabilize, with the September 1 release serving as the key catalyst. Market-implied odds price in this data-dependent balance rather than a decisive directional shift.
