Recent USGS monitoring shows only minor seismic activity, including scattered magnitude 2–4 events and small swarms near Corona and the central San Andreas, with no foreshocks or strain anomalies indicating imminent rupture on Los Angeles-area faults such as the Newport-Inglewood or Puente Hills blind thrusts. The roughly four-month window to 2027 is far shorter than typical recurrence intervals for M6.5+ events in the region, which average decades to centuries based on paleoseismic records. This supports the market-implied 93.7% probability of “No.” An unexpected moderate-to-large release on a locked segment remains possible given elevated tectonic stress, though current data show no acceleration toward that threshold.
