This market will resolve to "Yes" if any player records more than 14 interceptions during the 2026-27 NFL regular season, thereby breaking the NFL single-season interceptions record. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The NFL single-season interceptions record is 14, set by Dick "Night Train" Lane in 1952. Matching the record exactly will not be sufficient; a player must exceed 14 interceptions for this market to resolve to "Yes". Only regular season games count. Playoff games, including Wild Card, Divisional, Conference Championship, and Pro Football Championship games, do not count. A player's total is the total he records across all of his 2026-27 NFL regular season games, including games played for more than one team. Only interceptions recorded on defense count; interceptions thrown by a passer do not count. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is shortened, truncated, or ends early for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available official data for completed games. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined whether any player exceeded 14 interceptions within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "50-50". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The NFL single-season interceptions record of 14, set by Dick “Night Train” Lane in 1952, remains untouched in the modern era, with no defender reaching 12 since Lester Hayes posted 13 in 1980. Recent seasons underscore the barrier: Kevin Byard led 2025 with just seven picks amid a league-wide interception rate of roughly 2.2 percent of pass attempts, reflecting rule emphasis on offensive protection, refined quarterback decision-making, and stronger passing schemes. Entering 2026, no active player has shown consistent double-digit potential in recent campaigns, and schedule, matchup, or injury variables have not produced the outlier volume historically required. Trader consensus at 73.5 percent on “No” aligns with these sustained trends limiting realistic paths to the record.
