This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a confirmed case of Ebola in the territory of the specified country reported between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Any active laboratory-confirmed, or otherwise officially confirmed, Ebola infection identified within the territory of the specified country will qualify, regardless of where exposure, symptom onset, or testing occurred. The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the relevant national and international health authorities; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting will also suffice. The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak, now exceeding 7,000 cases and 3,400 deaths across seven provinces since its mid-May confirmation, dominates trader attention for 2026 markets. Recent spread to the remote northwestern South-Ubangi province via an infected traveler who crossed multiple borders has heightened concerns about export to neighboring Central African Republic and Republic of the Congo. Government data show declining incidence in the Ituri epicenter, yet weak surveillance, conflict-driven displacement, and school reopenings continue to fuel new transmission chains. Uganda’s smaller concurrent cluster ended in June with no further reports. Vaccination campaigns targeting frontline workers and expanded contact tracing represent key near-term catalysts, though the absence of a licensed Bundibugyo-specific vaccine limits containment speed. Traders monitor border movements and WHO assessments for signals of wider regional risk.
