Valve's late April 2026 update reworked and added Cache to CS2's Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes, marking the first major step toward broader integration since its 2019 removal from the active duty roster. This follows 2026 community hints and aligns with Valve's pattern of testing maps in casual queues before pro consideration, potentially setting up a rotation that could displace an established map like Mirage. The competitive scene has shown strong player engagement with the reworked version, though full active duty inclusion remains uncertain pending official announcements. Factors such as map balance feedback, upcoming major schedules, and Valve's deliberate update cadence continue to shape trader views on timing.
