This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed team finishes third in its group and is one of the eight best third-placed teams that advance to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A team that finishes third in its group but is NOT among the eight that advance resolves “No”. A team that does not finish third in its group (whether it finishes higher or lower) also resolves “No”. The eight best third-placed teams are determined by the official ranking procedure of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage is cancelled, postponed after July 11, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or the best third-place qualifiers cannot be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “No”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The expanded 48-team 2026 World Cup format places 12 groups of four into a group stage where the top two finishers advance automatically to the Round of 32 while the eight strongest third-place teams also qualify. Those third-placed sides are ranked first by points earned across group matches, then goal difference, goals scored, fair-play conduct, and finally FIFA world ranking. With the tournament just underway, early results from opening fixtures are shaping initial standings and highlighting which groups feature deeper competition that could leave stronger sides fighting for one of the eight third-place berths. Remaining group games, schedule congestion, and potential for upsets will determine final third-place ordering before the knockout bracket is set.
