Hubert Hurkacz enters this Cancun Challenger hard-court matchup as the clear favorite against Moez Echargui, reflecting the significant ranking gap (69 vs. 197) and the Pole’s extensive ATP experience despite recent injury setbacks. Hurkacz returned to competition in early 2026 following knee surgery and managed an abdominal strain in July, using lower-tier events to rebuild match fitness and form on hard courts where he has historically performed well. Echargui, a 33-year-old Tunisian with a career-high ranking of 134, has shown competitive results in recent Challengers but lacks consistent success against top-100 opponents. The surface favors Hurkacz’s powerful serve and baseline game, while Echargui’s path to this round highlights his ability to capitalize on opportunities in smaller fields. Traders view the outcome as heavily influenced by Hurkacz’s health and execution on the day.
