The bilateral T20 series between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, originally set for Sharjah in March 2026, has been postponed to the final quarter of the year owing to logistical hurdles from the ongoing regional conflict in the Middle East. Afghanistan Cricket Board officials cited flight constraints and security concerns that prevented the three-match T20 leg and subsequent ODIs from proceeding in the UAE as planned. Ibrahim Zadran has since taken over as Afghanistan’s T20I captain, bringing fresh leadership into a side that last faced Sri Lanka in early 2024. Traders monitoring the rescheduled fixtures will focus on squad fitness after the extended break, home-ground familiarity once the series moves, and any updates to travel arrangements that could still shift the timeline. The delay keeps both teams’ recent form and head-to-head records as the primary reference points until the new dates are confirmed.
