Mercedes has introduced significant upgrades tailored to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve’s high-speed layout and long straights, enhancing straight-line speed and tire management on a track that has historically rewarded consistent pace over raw qualifying performance. The sprint weekend format introduces an extra variable, with Saturday’s sprint race offering valuable data on setup and degradation before Sunday’s main event. McLaren’s Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc remain realistic podium threats based on recent results, though both trail in overall momentum, while Max Verstappen’s Red Bull continues to search for consistent race pace. The Montreal circuit’s reputation for unpredictable incidents at the Wall of Champions adds further uncertainty to final podium positions.
