The abbreviated time window until 2027, spanning only months from the current date, drives the 90% market-implied probability of no magnitude 6.5+ earthquake striking the Los Angeles region. USGS long-term forecasts indicate roughly 2–3% annual odds for such an event on nearby faults like the San Andreas or blind thrusts, consistent with recurrence intervals of decades and the absence of major ruptures since the 1994 Northridge quake. Recent monitoring by the Southern California Earthquake Data Center shows only minor swarms and events below magnitude 4, with no accelerating creep or foreshock sequences detected. Trader consensus reflects this quiet baseline, though an unexpected cluster or model revision highlighting elevated strain could still shift odds before year-end.
