In the 2026-27 NBA season, the Play-In tournament will likely feature teams clustered around the 7-10 seeds in each conference, where roster construction from a transformative offseason shapes early projections. Western Conference contenders such as the Lakers, Suns, Trail Blazers, Warriors, and Jazz face tight battles influenced by additions like Luka Doncic in Los Angeles and health considerations for veterans, while Eastern squads including the Heat (bolstered by Giannis Antetokounmpo), Raptors, Pacers (with Tyrese Haliburton returning), Hawks, and Magic compete amid strengthened top tiers led by the Knicks and Pistons. Trader consensus reflects these shifts, with injury recovery, new lineups, and schedule strength determining which clubs secure the final playoff berths versus lottery positioning. Preseason and training camp developments will further clarify momentum.

If the 2027 NBA Play-In Tournament is cancelled, postponed to begin after May 15, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or the full 8-team Play-In Tournament field has not been officially confirmed by the NBA within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "No".
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NBA and/or the clinching team; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
