Magnus Carlsen commands 67% trader consensus as the clear favorite for Norway Chess 2026 victory, anchored by his world No. 1 FIDE classical rating of 2840 on the May list, unmatched historical dominance in the event with multiple titles, home-country edge despite the Oslo venue shift, and recent 2026 triumphs including the Chess.com Open playoffs in late April and FIDE Freestyle World Championship in February. Alireza Firouzja's 10.5% reflects consistent top performances in recent rapid-blitz events like Super Rapid & Blitz Poland earlier this month, while World Champion Gukesh Dommaraju and Vincent Keymer tie at 9.5% amid Gukesh's troubling classical slump—six losses against three wins this year—highlighting a competitive double round-robin field ahead of the May 25 start.
