The 2026–27 Swiss Super League season opened in late July with FC Vaduz promoted from the Challenge League in place of relegated Winterthur, immediately positioning the Liechtenstein side as the clearest early relegation candidate after four straight defeats and a -5 goal difference. Grasshopper Club Zürich and FC Zürich sit near the bottom after mixed results and defensive vulnerabilities, while mid-table sides such as Servette, Lausanne-Sport, and even surprise 2025–26 champions Thun have shown inconsistent form and heavy concession tallies. Historical patterns in the 12-team league favor a tight relegation scrap between the bottom four or five clubs once the split occurs after 33 matches, with the 11th-placed team facing a playoff against the Challenge League runner-up. Early injuries, transfer-window reinforcements, and the winter break schedule will shape whether established sides stabilize or new arrivals like Vaduz remain mired at the foot of the table.
