Janice Tjen enters the first round of the WTA Rabat clay-court event as the clear favorite against qualifier Caijsa Hennemann, driven by a substantial ranking gap and greater recent main-draw experience. The Indonesian, ranked around No. 40 with a career high of No. 36, brings a strong 2025 record and solid doubles pedigree, though her 2026 singles results show inconsistency with multiple early exits on European clay. Hennemann, a Swedish player hovering near No. 300, secured her main-draw spot with straight-sets and three-set qualifying victories, including a win over Dalila Spiteri, but lacks recent WTA-level match play and has not faced top-50 opponents consistently. With no prior head-to-head history, the matchup favors Tjen’s superior baseline game and movement on clay, while any upset potential for the underdog rests on maintaining early momentum and capitalizing on Tjen’s recent form dips.
