Ignacio Buse reached his first ATP final as a qualifier at the clay-court Hamburg European Open, riding an impressive run that included straight-set wins over higher-ranked opponents en route to facing sixth seed Tommy Paul. The 22-year-old Peruvian overcame early dizziness during the week and has shown strong baseline consistency on the slower surface. Paul advanced after a resilient comeback victory against Alex de Minaur in the semifinals, drawing on his greater experience at ATP 500 level and solid recent form on European clay. Factors such as Buse’s fresh legs from limited prior matches versus Paul’s proven ability in three-set battles, combined with the physical demands of the humid conditions at Am Rothenbaum, shape the matchup dynamics ahead of the title decider.
