Alena Kovackova, the 18-year-old Czech prospect with a career-high WTA ranking near 594, faces 31-year-old Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova in the opening round of the ITF W35 Amstelveen on clay. Kovackova enters with stronger recent singles momentum across lower-tier events, while Strakhova, whose career singles peak reached 231 but who now sits outside the top 500, has posted mixed results and leans more heavily into doubles. No prior head-to-head exists between the pair. Clay-court consistency, stamina over three sets, and Kovackova’s superior recent ITF win rate stand out as the primary variables shaping trader views on this matchup.
