Sergey Fomin enters the Astana Challenger second round as the No. 3 seed with an ATP ranking near 305, giving him a clear edge over Kasidit Samrej (ranked 406) on the hard courts. Fomin’s recent hard-court results and regional familiarity in Central Asia support stronger consistency, while Samrej arrives after a resilient three-set victory in the round of 32 that included a comeback from a mid-set deficit. Head-to-head history is limited, but surface preference and experience at this level favor the higher-ranked Uzbek. The outcome hinges on whether Samrej can maintain momentum or if Fomin’s superior ranking and seeding translate into control of rallies and service games.
