Iran sits atop the 2027 AFC Asian Cup winner market at 51.5% implied probability, buoyed by a favorable group-stage draw in Saudi Arabia alongside lower-ranked sides Syria, China, and Kyrgyzstan, plus a strong recent qualification record and coach Amir Ghalenoei’s contract extension. The field remains tightly bunched, however, because Japan, South Korea, Australia, hosts Saudi Arabia, and Qatar (defending champions) all feature deep squads with European-based talent, solid recent form, and proven continental pedigree. Post-2026 World Cup performances have narrowed perceived gaps across the continent, while home advantage for Saudi Arabia, bracket positioning, and the expanded 24-team format with knockout volatility keep multiple realistic paths open for several contenders through the January-February tournament.
