The tight race for the Palme d'Or at Cannes reflects a field of seasoned international auteurs whose latest works have generated strong early buzz among critics and programmers. Pawel Pawlikowski’s FATHERLAND holds the top position with 35% implied probability, edging out Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s ALL OF A SUDDEN at 28%, as traders weigh Pawlikowski’s proven festival track record against Hamaguchi’s recent Palme-winning momentum. Andrey Zvyagintsev’s MINOTAUR sits at 19% on the strength of its politically charged storytelling, while a broad pack of titles from Pedro Almodóvar, Cristian Mungiu, and others cluster between 11% and 5%, underscoring how jury composition, premiere screenings, and last-minute critical reception can still reshape outcomes in the coming days.
