The 2026-27 NFL regular season has yet to begin, leaving the special teams and defensive touchdowns leader market tightly bunched around 48-50% implied probability across dozens of teams because these scores remain low-volume, high-variance events driven by turnovers, return production, blocked kicks, and situational breaks rather than consistent team strengths. Post-draft roster upgrades have bolstered defensive lines and return units league-wide, with clubs such as the Jets, Seahawks, Colts, and Rams highlighted for special-teams continuity or additions, yet no single side has established a durable edge in generating non-offensive scores. Historical patterns show wide year-to-year swings in this category, keeping trader consensus evenly distributed until regular-season data on forced fumbles, interception returns, and kick/punt production emerges.
