The 30-year-old Brazilian brought momentum from back-to-back wins and a grappling-heavy style that aligned with pre-fight expectations of targeting Schnell on the mat. Schnell, 36, entered on a skid with five losses in his prior six outings and faced questions about durability against younger competition. Costa’s recent knockout power and submission threat created a sizable implied probability edge in trader consensus, though Schnell’s experience at flyweight offered limited upset potential in a matchup defined by age and form gaps. The bout resolved via first-round TKO for Costa.
