Atlético Madrid lead the implied probabilities for La Liga's third-place finish heading into the 2026-27 campaign, reflecting their consistent top-four record since 2011-12, Diego Simeone's long-term stability, and summer reinforcements such as Lee Kang-in and Álex Grimaldo amid uncertainty over Julián Álvarez. Villarreal, fresh off a third-place finish and European qualification, sit close behind with an attacking core that includes Gerard Moreno and new coach Iñigo Pérez, while Real Betis and several mid-tier sides benefit from squad depth and recent form. Barcelona and Real Madrid's projected dominance at the top compresses the race below them, leaving Atlético, Villarreal, and a cluster of contenders separated by narrow margins in models like Opta's simulations, where early results, transfers, and schedule balance keep the outcome highly competitive.
