The tight clustering of implied probabilities around 5-11% for teams like the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, and Florida Panthers reflects broad parity and preseason optimism across the NHL as training camps open ahead of the Sept. 29 start to the 2026-27 season. Defending champion Hurricanes return a deep, experienced roster with minimal changes, while the Avalanche benefit from continuity after a strong prior campaign. Contenders such as the Oilers, Golden Knights, Lightning, Stars, and Wild bring proven cores and recent playoff success, yet emerging clubs including the Canadiens, Sabres, and Senators have narrowed gaps through roster development and cap flexibility. With an expanded 84-game schedule and no results yet posted, traders see realistic paths for a dozen-plus clubs to contend deep into the playoffs.

If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to be named as the champion of NHL for the 2026-27 season per the rules of NHL (e.g., participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No".
If multiple teams are declared winners, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically.
If this event is cancelled, postponed after June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a champion has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The resolution source will be official information from the NHL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
