This market will resolve according to the first individual Donald Trump announces as his pick to be United States Secretary of Labor. An announcement from Donald Trump or the Trump administration stating their intent to nominate a specific individual for United States Secretary of Labor will suffice to resolve this market, regardless of whether a formal nomination actually occurs. Qualifying announcements must explicitly present the relevant individual as the nominee or future nominee for United States Secretary of Labor. Announcements of acting or interim appointments, or announcements which merely reveal potential candidates, will not qualify. Media reports, speculation, or other unofficial information will not qualify. A formal presidential nomination of an individual to be United States Secretary of Labor will also suffice to resolve this market. Formal nominations are defined as the submission of a nomination message to the U.S. Senate. If Donald Trump does not announce his pick for the next United States Secretary of Labor by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No announcement in 2026". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Donald Trump and the Trump Administration; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Keith Sonderling leads trader consensus at 42.5% as the frontrunner for permanent Labor Secretary following his April 20, 2026 designation as acting secretary after Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s resignation amid internal investigations. His prior Senate confirmation as deputy secretary and prior service on the Trump transition landing team at the Department of Labor strengthen his position. Bryan Slater sits second at 14.8% due to his experience as assistant secretary for administration and management in the first Trump administration and recent role as Virginia secretary of labor under Governor Glenn Youngkin. Other listed contenders, including Jonathan Berry and Andrew Puzder, reflect past administration ties or union connections, while the 13.4% probability assigned to no announcement in 2026 accounts for potential delays in Senate confirmation processes or extended acting service.
