This market will resolve to “Yes” if the NBA Board of Governors passes any vote that changes the rules of the NBA Draft Lottery before the start of the 2026 NBA Draft, scheduled for June 24, 2026, regardless of when the changes take effect. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” Changes to the Draft Lottery may include rules related, but not limited to: the number of teams in the lottery, the percentages for picks allotted to teams in the lottery, etc. Changes related to date, location, or other logistical changes will not be considered. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the NBA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The NBA's recent push for a "3-2-1" draft lottery overhaul, unveiled in late April and set for a Board of Governors vote on May 28, has positioned reform as the leading outcome in trader pricing. The proposal expands the lottery to 16 teams, flattens odds across non-playoff and play-in squads, and introduces a relegation zone that penalizes the three worst records with fewer balls for the top pick while capping how far they can fall. League commissioner Adam Silver has highlighted the need to reduce tanking incentives, especially ahead of strong upcoming draft classes, with support building among general managers after multiple meetings. Current implied probabilities reflect this momentum tempered by the required owner approval threshold and potential for last-minute adjustments.
