Trader consensus on Polymarket implies a 76% probability that Valve's Steam Machine will launch at $700 or more, fueled by recent hardware teardowns and leaks estimating a bill-of-materials cost around $699 for the base 512GB model—comparable to a PS5 Pro—amid surging DRAM and NAND prices driven by AI demand. Valve's February confirmation of pricing delays due to these component shortages, coupled with massive console imports to the US last week signaling an early summer 2026 release, has solidified expectations for premium positioning as a compact PC-console hybrid boasting six times the Steam Deck's power. Upcoming pre-order announcements and official specs could shift odds, though historical Valve hardware like the Deck suggests value-focused but not ultra-budget pricing.
