With several films clustered between 20% and 26% implied probability, traders see a wide-open race for the Palme d'Or at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. Pawel Pawlikowski’s FATHERLAND sits narrowly ahead on the strength of his prior festival success and arthouse pedigree, yet Na Hong-jin’s HOPE and Andrey Zvyagintsev’s MINOTAUR remain within a few points, reflecting comparable critical anticipation and directorial stature. Lukas Dhont’s COWARD and the Spanish entry LA BOLA NEGRA follow closely, underscoring how recent official selections and pre-festival buzz have kept the field tightly bunched. The market’s spread among lower-priced titles highlights the jury’s traditional unpredictability, where strong reviews from early screenings or unexpected audience response could quickly reorder the frontrunners before the May 24 awards.
