The Palme d'Or race at Cannes remains highly competitive, with trader sentiment reflected in the tight spread among top contenders. Pawel Pawlikowski's "Fatherland" holds the lead in implied probability, buoyed by the director's prior festival acclaim and the film's anticipated artistic intensity. Close behind are entries from Ryusuke Hamaguchi and Lukas Dhont, whose previous works have earned critical praise and awards momentum. This distribution highlights the jury's tendency to reward innovative storytelling from European and international auteurs over more conventional narratives. With the closing ceremony approaching, late screenings and industry reactions could still shift the consensus.
