Cilia Flores, wife of former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, has remained in pretrial detention at a Brooklyn federal facility since U.S. forces captured her during a January 3, 2026 raid in Caracas on narcoterrorism, drug trafficking, and weapons charges. Following her January 5 arraignment where she pleaded not guilty and declined an immediate bail request, a federal judge denied dismissal motions and continued her custody through March hearings. The next status conference is scheduled for June 30, 2026, amid ongoing Venezuelan protests demanding release and diplomatic statements from Russia and China. Traders monitor these court proceedings, potential plea negotiations, and any bail applications as primary factors shaping the likelihood of her release before key resolution deadlines.

If Cilia Flores is released but remains under house arrest, the market will still resolve to "Yes".
If Cilia Flores is released on parole, bond, or any other condition that results in them leaving state custody, the market will resolve to "Yes".
Transporting Cilia Flores to another location of custody (e.g., a different prison, court, or hospital within the correctional system) will not suffice to resolve this market to "Yes".
Temporary outings from prison for purposes such as testifying in court or before Congress, while still under the custody of correctional authorities, will not count as a release.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from government authorities or corrections departments; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
