Trader consensus on Polymarket reflects a 92.5% implied probability that Costco will not raise its iconic $1.50 hot dog combo price before 2027, driven by CEO Ron Vachris's March 2026 public vow—"the price will not change as long as I'm around"—echoing co-founder Jim Sinegal's longstanding mandate to preserve this loss-leader since 1985. Costco's vertical integration, including proprietary hot dog production, enables cost absorption despite food inflation, sustaining foot traffic and membership revenue growth reported in recent quarterly earnings. An April 2026 menu tweak adding bottled water as a soda alternative marked the first combo change in 40 years without altering the price, reinforcing stability. Realistic challenges include escalating commodity costs or a future leadership transition post-Vachris, though no such signals have emerged ahead of the May 29 Q3 FY2026 earnings release.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the price of a standard Costco hot dog and 20 oz soda combo before tax exceeds $1.50 in any Costco store in the United States by December 31, 2026, 11:59PM ET. Otherwise this market will resolve to "No".
If Costco announces they will increase the price, this market will resolve to "Yes" regardless of whether that change is actually implemented.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Costco, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
