The ongoing New York City Department of Buildings investigation into the July 2026 structural failure at the former Pfizer headquarters—where missing or inadequate steel reinforcements caused columns to buckle during an office-to-residential conversion—has not yet produced criminal charges. Law enforcement is participating in the probe, which identified additional column issues in August, but proving criminal negligence typically requires clear evidence of willful misconduct amid complex contractor and engineering disputes. Civil lawsuits and safety violations have already surfaced, yet the timeline for formal charges remains uncertain given standard investigative processes and the project's stabilization efforts. Traders price the "no" outcome at 79.5% through December 31 as the most probable path absent rapid new findings.
