The 2026-27 J1 League season, the first under the new autumn-to-spring calendar with a winter break, is in its opening weeks after seven matches per side. Avispa Fukuoka, Tokyo Verdy, and JEF United Chiba sit in the bottom three with just four points each, placing them directly in the relegation zone where the bottom three finishers drop to J2. Struggling sides such as Kyoto Sanga, Gamba Osaka, and Nagoya Grampus also face early pressure, while promoted clubs and mid-table teams look to stabilize. With the majority of the double round-robin schedule still ahead, recent form, squad depth, and any early transfer activity will shape the battle to avoid automatic relegation.
