Brett Whiteley holds the strongest trader consensus at 61.5% for the October 27, 2026 Latrobe Council mayoral election in Tasmania, reflecting his established name recognition as a former federal Liberal MP for Braddon and state MP with prior local government experience as a Burnie alderman and current residence in the municipality. Incumbent Peter Freshney sits at just 1.1% after confirming he will not seek another term, following earlier public indecision amid council leadership changes and reported personal pressures from prior campaigns. Nominations remain open until September 21, which sustains broad uncertainty and flat 50% pricing across dozens of named or anonymous candidates plus "Other," as traders await a clearer field ahead of the Tasmanian Electoral Commission declaration.
