**Recent performance trends and the precedent set by MLB The Show 26's repeat cover with Aaron Judge are shaping early trader views for the 27 edition.** San Diego Studio surprised fans in January 2026 by announcing no "new" cover athlete before revealing Judge's return—his second appearance after 2018—highlighting a shift toward established superstars over rising talents. With MLB The Show 26 launching March 17, 2026, attention now turns to 2026 season MVPs, home run leaders, and fan-favorite players like Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto, or Bryce Harper, whose popularity and achievements often drive cover selections. No official announcements or teases have emerged yet for 27, leaving the market driven by historical patterns of spotlighting top performers and marketability. Key upcoming catalysts include the end of the 2026 regular season, MVP voting, and any early 2027 reveals from the studio.
