Republican incumbent Brad Finstad holds a structural edge in Minnesota's 1st Congressional District, rated Solid Republican by Cook Political Report and Inside Elections due to its R+6 partisan voting index and Finstad's 17-point victory in 2024. Primary elections on August 11 set the general election matchup for November 3, with Democrat Jake Johnson emerging as the main challenger. Recent polling shows Finstad leading by single digits in some surveys while a February poll indicated a tighter race, prompting the DCCC to add the seat to its target list. Traders appear to weigh the district's historical Republican performance and Finstad's fundraising against Democratic efforts to capitalize on local economic concerns ahead of the midterms.
