Incumbent Democrat Deborah Ross faces Republican Eugene Douglass and Libertarian Matthew Laszacs in North Carolina’s 2nd congressional district for the November 2026 general election. The seat carries a D+17 Cook Partisan Voter Index, encompasses Democratic-leaning areas of central Wake County, and delivered Ross a 66% victory in 2024. All major forecasters rate the contest Solid or Safe Democratic following canceled primaries and limited Republican organizational activity. Mid-decade redistricting left the district’s boundaries largely unchanged, preserving its partisan tilt. Traders assign the Democratic nominee a 94.5% implied probability consistent with this structural advantage, though late-cycle developments such as a major scandal, health event, or national political realignment remain theoretically capable of narrowing the margin before Election Day.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
