Andris Kulbergs leads the market at 82.5% after forming a four-party coalition government in late May 2026 following the collapse of Evika Siliņa’s cabinet. The prior coalition fractured when the Progressives withdrew support after Siliņa dismissed their defense minister over failures to counter stray Ukrainian drones that entered Latvian airspace amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Kulbergs, from the United List, secured parliamentary confirmation with 66 votes and has prioritized border security, anti-drone measures, and budget stabilization ahead of the October 3 parliamentary election. Recent polling shows his coalition holding a lead, while lower-priced alternatives such as Viktors Valainis and Jūlija Stepaņenko represent opposition or smaller-party contenders whose paths to a majority coalition remain narrower.
