Republican incumbent Mike Carey secured his party's nomination unopposed in the May 2026 primary and enters the November general election in a district rated R+5 by the Cook Partisan Voting Index. Cook Political Report classifies the race Solid Republican as of mid-August 2026, consistent with Carey's 2024 margin and the district's suburban Columbus profile that has favored GOP candidates in recent cycles. Democratic nominee Don Leonard, a former professor who prevailed in his May primary, has trailed in most assessments despite one July poll showing him within five points; no major late developments, candidate controversies, or national shifts have altered the structural tilt. Traders reflect this positioning through elevated Republican odds, viewing the seat as low-risk for the incumbent party absent unforeseen turnout or polling surges.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.

If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
