The Odyssey leads trader sentiment for the 2027 Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar with its 39.5% implied probability, driven by Christopher Nolan’s July 2026 release of the Homer adaptation, which has delivered strong box office results nearing $1 billion and early critical acclaim for its epic scope and screenplay. Project Hail Mary follows at 25% on the strength of its March debut and Drew Goddard’s adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel, bolstered by solid audience metrics and sci-fi momentum. The Black Ball sits at 31.5% amid guild and precursor speculation, while Dune: Part Three and Toy Story 5 trail lower as campaigns build. With the awards season still months away and many fall titles pending, the race remains fluid, hinging on upcoming reviews, guild nominations, and how these blockbusters sustain narrative momentum against historical patterns favoring prestige adaptations.
