Tennessee's solidly Republican electorate and history of strong GOP performance in statewide contests underpin the market's heavy weighting toward a Republican victory in the 2026 gubernatorial election. Term-limited incumbent Bill Lee leaves an open seat, yet the August 6 Republican primary delivered a decisive win for U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn over U.S. Representative John Rose and state Representative Monty Fritts, consolidating party support behind a candidate with broad name recognition and alignment on key policy priorities. Democratic primary voters selected a nominee facing structural challenges in a state where recent presidential margins have favored Republicans by double digits. Trader consensus reflects these fundamentals, though a major scandal, health development, or sharp national shift in voter sentiment within the November 3 general election window could still alter the outcome.

A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date.
Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
