Texas's 17th congressional district features Republican incumbent Pete Sessions facing Democratic nominee Casey Shepard in the November 2026 general election. Multiple nonpartisan rating firms classify the race as solid or safe Republican, reflecting the district's partisan lean and consistent Republican performance in recent cycles, including strong margins for the party's presidential and Senate candidates under the current map. Sessions advanced unopposed through the Republican primary, while Shepard emerged from the Democratic runoff. Texas redistricting completed in 2025 further reinforced Republican advantages across the state delegation. With three months until Election Day, trader consensus prices reflect limited indications of a competitive contest or significant shifts in voter coalitions that could alter the outcome.
