Venezuelan crude production has climbed sharply in 2026 to around 1.2 million barrels per day as of August, up roughly 30% year-to-date from January levels near 0.92 million bpd, driven by expanded joint-venture operations with international oil companies. Recent U.S. policy shifts and new concession agreements have accelerated capital commitments, including Chevron’s planned $7 billion investment over five years targeting a doubling of its Venezuelan output and broader deals that could unlock additional upstream spending. Market-implied odds reflect these inflows alongside persistent constraints such as diluent imports, aging infrastructure, and logistical bottlenecks that analysts expect will cap full-year averages below the government’s 1.4 million bpd year-end goal. Key near-term catalysts include further regulatory clarity on foreign participation and any revisions to OPEC secondary-source estimates.
