Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina meet in the 2026 Italian Open final on Rome's slow clay courts, where both players bring strong recent form and a competitive head-to-head record. Svitolina holds a 3-2 edge overall and has defeated Gauff in both of their 2026 encounters, including a three-set win in the Dubai semifinal. The Ukrainian has compiled a 27-7 record this season with multiple deep WTA 1000 runs and an excellent 7-0 mark in clay finals, while Gauff advanced to her second straight Rome final after a 6-4, 6-3 semifinal victory over Sorana Cirstea. Gauff ranks higher at world No. 4 and maintains a strong clay resume, though Svitolina's experience in championship matches and recent momentum on the surface shape the matchup dynamics.
