Storm Hunter enters this all-Australian first-round qualifying clash at Roland Garros with a substantial ranking edge, sitting near No. 193 compared to Tahlia Kokkinis’s No. 491. The 31-year-old has recent main-draw experience at majors, including a second-round appearance at the 2026 Australian Open, and aims to reach back-to-back Grand Slams on the red clay she has navigated successfully in prior qualifying campaigns. Kokkinis, a 17-year-old wildcard recipient making her French Open debut, brings strong recent ITF clay results and a career-high ranking achieved late in 2025, yet faces the step up against a player with far greater tour-level match toughness. The clay surface and qualifying draw depth favor the higher-ranked Australian’s consistency and experience in longer rallies and baseline exchanges.
